Originating from the rhizome of Curcuma longa, and a member of the ginger family, Turmeric is both a well known spice and an ancient herbal antidote with medicinal properties. Turmeric contains 3-9% Curcumin, a bioactive in which a mixture of three naturally occurring curcuminoids are found i.e. Curcumin (Diferuloylmethane), Desmethoxycurcumin and Bisdemethoxycurcumin.
Due to the well established history and studies on the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of Curcumin, it makes it an ideal ingredient as a dietary supplement, cosmetic, in food and beverages and pharmaceutical applications
